Hitman_one Posted February 13, 2012 Share #1 Posted February 13, 2012 I picked up a VERY salty M4 bayonet last week. Its very rusty and most of the leather washers have rotted off.So now i'm in that dilemma..restore or not to restore. That is the question! I cant see it being a problem getting leather washers..the problem is how do you go about getting the pommel off?Is it even worth the hassle? Its a blade marked Case.Pics later. scooter Posted February 14, 2012 Share #3 Posted February 14, 2012 Removing the "peen" on the pommel to remove it is very difficult, and still be able to have enough metal remaining to restake it back together and make it look proper. The only other solution I can think of would be to split the washers install them, and then glue them together before you contoured the proper shape. You may be able to hide the glue marks that way.
