Tom Pearcy Posted February 10, 2012 Share #1 Posted February 10, 2012 I don't know if this has been covered elsewhere. I would like to know if anyone can tell if a patch that has some, not all, reaction to a UV light could still be WWII vintage. I have a patch that is "dead" front and back, BUT, the very outside edge glows. It looks like the edge of some type of base material (stiffener) that the patch is embroidered on. The edge is slightly frayed and that's where it glows.
fiveodeuce Posted February 10, 2012 Share #2 Posted February 10, 2012 The patch could have been washed in detergent. If the patch has been washed then everything white will glow under the blacklight. If the patch has white embroidery and only the edge of the patch glows then I would be concerned that it is a post WWII patch. Hope this helps.
