uplandmod Posted January 30, 2012 Share #1 Posted January 30, 2012 Here's my latest pick up, a WWII USMCWR uniform from CPL Mary T Nelson. This purchase will come with various Paperwork but according to the auction, Mary was the first Penobscot female Native American to join the Marines. This was a long time and coming to pick up a BAM uniform for my collection, but this one just spoke to me and definitely the centerpiece of my WWII USMC collection. I will pick up a hat, shirt and tie at a later date when I have some extra cash. I will update this thread as soon as I find more info on her. cutiger83 Posted January 30, 2012 Share #3 Posted January 30, 2012 It always amazes me to see these sweet little old Grandmothers and Grandfathers then think about what they did for our country in their youth. Wonderful uniform! Congrats! ....Kat
uplandmod Posted January 30, 2012 Author Share #4 Posted January 30, 2012 Thanks you! It sounds like from the dealer I purchased from that she was very proud of her service. I'm seriously at a loss of words with this one.... Leonardo
uplandmod Posted January 30, 2012 Author Share #5 Posted January 30, 2012 Here's a link about her on the Penobscot Nation site: http://www.penobscotculture.com/index.php?...3&Itemid=27 I do really need to confirm these are the same Mary T Nelson and I will update when I get that information. Edit: Looks like two different people: Mary Therese Nelson Johnson and Mary T Seybold Nelson. I''ll have to confirm if these two Marines are the same or not. uplandmod Posted August 14, 2012 Author Share #6 Posted August 14, 2012 This third record I received from Redbird Research yesterday was the one for Mary T Nelson-Johnson. Here is her picture from her service records. Mary was a lovely Lady! Feel free to leave a message at her memorial page on Find A Grave: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?p...d=92927007& :salute: Leonardo
