Good morning,

I've got a question regarding the 10th Mountain Div and bdu patrol caps. I did a training exchange with the 10th mnt div (1st Battalion Light, 7th Field) down in FT Drum NY back in the early 1990's.

Any way, I recall a Sgt from the Divison training cadre (?). He was training us on quick rigging the M102 for movement with the UH60. I think he had his bdu cap made up like a Ranger cap. Name tap and cat eyes on the back, Mountain tab and Sgt strpes on the front.

Am i remembering correctly? If so was this a common practice, or just for training staff? I'm not 100% sure I'm remembering right.

thank you very much, i greatly appreciate your forum and your help,

Most if not all Army Rangers have the cat eyes, Ranger Tab and name tape on them. The later ones have the OD rank and the earlier ones have the parachutist badges. I've never seen this "Style" worn by any other soldiers though.

I might be getting mixed up. It's been 20 plus yrs. We actualy did a exchange with the 82nd a month or so after. Maybe it wasn't a mountain tab.
