1904 Marine Corps Weapons Display

Recommended Posts

This is a photograph of Marine Corps items displayed during the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition in 1904. This is the only photograph found to date of the many taken which include all Marine Corps Uniforms and equipment. Finign the other pics would be great sinc ethe 1904 Regs do not include pics. I have a complete list of the captions for the photos but only one picture.

Great to see this photo brought up again!

While it is a Krag-Jorgenson (with 1901 rear sight) I believe the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition was the first major public demonstration of the M1903 'Rod Bayonet' Springfield rifles, which had accompanied about 50 cadets from West Point (at the time, one of few to be equipped with the new rifle).
