hawkdriver Posted January 17, 2012 Share #1 Posted January 17, 2012 This came in a grouping and I have no idea what it is. I thought it was part of a Sam Brown shoulder strap, but the buckles are way to big. It is narrower than a rifle sling and only one row of holes for the buckles. It is still tied with the original cordage, so I don't quite know how long it is. Any ideas? Other side
hbtcoveralls Posted January 19, 2012 Share #2 Posted January 19, 2012 How long are they? and are they different lengths? they look like the straps for the M-1 rifle scabbard as used by the cavalry and later on jeeps and other things. They were pretty long and there was a long and short strap. Tom Bowers
hawkdriver Posted January 19, 2012 Author Share #3 Posted January 19, 2012 They have the original ties on them, I never took those off. I will see if I can untie them without cutting them. That would make sense, they are a single hole strap, but the buckles are larger than expected.
robinb Posted January 20, 2012 Share #4 Posted January 20, 2012 How wide are the straps? I have an idea as to what they may be for, but I want to check it out first.
hawkdriver Posted January 20, 2012 Author Share #5 Posted January 20, 2012 I'm at work, but they are right at about an inch wide. I can measure them tomorrow when I get home.
hawkdriver Posted January 22, 2012 Author Share #6 Posted January 22, 2012 Measured it and it's 7/8" wide. Almost looks like replacement straps for the leather carbine scabbards??
