Would he have worn some sort of shoulder patch while in that outfit? As I understand it, DUIs didn't come into use until the mid-1920s, but shoulder patches were worn long before then. Anybody here ever seen or heard of a patch for this unit? All of the coast artillery units would have worn the Panama Canal Department patch, but I believe it wasn't approved until 1922.
