devincu Posted December 16, 2011 Share #1 Posted December 16, 2011 I just picked this one up today, and I have several war bond posters. Does anyone know of a good way to preserve these without spending a fortune?

doyler Posted December 16, 2011 Share #4 Posted December 16, 2011 You can place them on foam core board and shrink wrap for short term storage.I also recall there were linen backing kits on ebay available at one time. Most print shops or Hibby Lobby stores can also give you alteratives
collector Posted January 6, 2012 Share #5 Posted January 6, 2012 But under no circumstances dry-mount or otherwise laminate that on to anything. A front and back of archival board will keep it flat and protected if the sides are sealed. Use materials that will allow 'breathing'. I have a large collection of valuable graphics and have learned the hard way. A stable environment is important too.

fstop61 Posted January 9, 2012 Share #7 Posted January 9, 2012 I'll throw my .02-worth in since I do dabble in posters. I'm assuming it's a full-sheet poster? Looking at the pics it doesn't appear to be too bad, and if you don't plan on getting it framed in the near future I would have it placed on linen. This will keep it in one piece, and it will hold it's value (if not increase it). There are several galleries that can do this for you. ( I use the Spencer Weisz Gallery in Chicago-he does an excellent job with reasonable prices). It all depends on what you have in the poster and how much more that you want to put into it. Personally I collect half-sheet posters since their so much cheaper to frame and take up less wall space.
gitana Posted January 30, 2012 Share #8 Posted January 30, 2012 I have most of my posters shrink-wrapped onto archival foam board. Easy to store in a box under the bed and will keep them safe until I get around to framing them. A framing shop can do the shrink wrapping for $20 each or so.
