Early WHITE Chevrons

These were picked up recently. I thought they were late 19th century U.S. Army infantry chevrons, but have had someone suggest they are early USMC chevrons. So I am looking for confirmation of what they are.

I am pretty sure these are late 1880's /early 1900's USMC.

Gil, do you have any reference for this? All I can find for the USMC is that they wore the gold/yellow chevrons.

They are Marine Corps chevrons from approx the turn of the century. (not sure on exact dates) The Marine Corps use to wear a Tan field uniform for work and field and that is what these are. Corporal and Sergeant stripes are relatively common, but it is much harder to find the higher ranks in this color. Hope that helps - Jeff

Yep, concur on USMC and the time period. These do show up on ebay from time to time but as stated, the higher ranks are very hard to come by.
