grimble-nibitz Posted November 25, 2011 Share #1 Posted November 25, 2011 From a visit two years back, the day was cold, the immense 200+ foot obelisk was hidden by fog, not a soul was there, at least a visible, living one...and behind that superb American Monument lay the destroyed village, as it was in 1918 when we took it from the Gerrys and gave it back to France. And they gave it to us. Eerie, silent and dead...perfect, symbolic, tragic and devastatingly simple.
