hirsca Posted November 7, 2011 Share #1 Posted November 7, 2011 One of several items that I acquired at the estate sale of a WW2 USAAF officer here in Dallas. His name was Donald R. Stewart. His family owned the Stewart Coffee Company in Chicago, but he ended up in Dallas. Was this ball cap a standard issue item? The lettering on the underside of the bill is smudged, but I can make out the word FORCES (ARMY AIR FORCES)? Thanks, Al Hirschler in Dallas. OD MAN Posted November 7, 2011 Share #3 Posted November 7, 2011 It is a WWII A-3 mechanics hat. The stamp is the standard Army Air Force logo. Although designated for mechanics they were very popular and worn by almost anyone who could get one. Justin
