Recommended Posts

I thought it would be interesting if we all posted our ancestors’ Military Photographs. Moderators can we let the foreign rule slide for our international members and descents of immigrants.

I will start it off

My grandparents on their wedding day

Grandpas brother Clarence Arterburn, I was told by his son that he drove a half-track with Patton's Third Army

My Uncle Jimmy Lee Arterburn, he served on the USS Jenkins between 1965-1968. providing gun support to the infantry

My great great uncle Charles Shirley. His brother also fought in WWI but I do not have a picture of him. He was hit by a high explosive, the American Legion Post in grandpas hometown is named for him.

Grandpas cousin Lawrence Arterburn, he was at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked, he helped pull bodies out of the water for burial. He was then sent to the Solomon Islands.

(BROKEN LINK REMOVED)

Lawrence had 3 brothers all of which served. First off is Howard, he also served during WWII. Fred, brother #2 is a Korean War veteran, he served in the Air-force. Gilbert the final brother is also a Korean War vet, he served in the Marine Corp. Sorry I don't have pictures of them at this time.

What a great thread. I want to play along too.

This is my grandfather William Carter stationed onboard USS Terry DD-513, 1943-1946. He got out as a GM2.

My other grandfather, Adrian Collins was a Marine in WWII. I dont know much more than that.

On his wedding day with his Marine best man, bride, and mother.

My great-grandfather, Emile Jumet was a second generation immigrant from Belgium who served in WWI.

Bud

I believe many of today's social ills and political party bickering could be solved by the simple implementation of legalized dueling.
