knife US M3

Recommended Posts

Have a friend with a lathe? Leather turns quite easily, and that model of knife comes apart and goes together without difficulty.

Turn, sand and shellac the leather handle, cut the dowel to dismount the new handle, and mount it on the knife.

to shape the handle a simple belt sander is needed, use the sandpaper end (120)

to make the cuts I used a dremel with a small grinding wheels, and I did finish with a cutting 3mm

this is simple

LEATHER DUST IS HIGHLY CARCINOGENIC !

ANYONE ATTEMPTING TO SAND LEATHER SHOULD AT ALL TIMES WEAR A FACE MASK TO PREVENT THEM FROM BREATHING IN THE LEATHER DUST

Funnily enough - I only looked on the topic as I have been wondering IF it would be worth my having a few knives made up to allow me to offer the M3 leather discs

(I have a 5-ton press to enable me to stamp them out)

The thing that has stopped me so far is that there are quite a few different sizes of disc & they don't seem to be in any great demand...and as each disc cutter is not cheap I have put off doing anything more in this area.
