Branch colors - cap piping color reference

That looks like a Signal Corps cap I had at one point.

Upon much closer inspection, my guess is that it is an engineer (red/white) cap. The very end of it that's tucked inside the hat is red. Had it been washed, it is very possible that the red dye ran (there does seem to be some bleed-over onto the edge of the cap) and it lightened.

Here is an occupation era tailor sample card for the braid of the US Army Garrison Caps. It was put together by Habeco - Weissenburg / Bavaria. It actually belongs to a freind but I thought I would share it for those who might be interested.

When did Armor change from the wartime Green & White to the Cavalry Yellow?

Perhaps that should be noted with this refernece - the colurs are not 100% as they were during WWII.

Cheers,

Glen.

Hi All,

Nor is there any Army Air Forces braid. Perhaps this dates to after 1947? Still a nice piece though.

Agreed, yellow for armor dates to 1951, and the green for Staff Specialist USAR was used for detached enlisted during WW2. So probably early '50s. I don't know what to make of the one labeled "army specialist," it looks kind of like the later unassigned branch. Anyway, a really nice reference piece!

Has anyone ever seen a US army "dress" uniform for EM's with piping on the cuffs and the collar onto the epaulletes?

Hi all, a big question for all of you:
i've found 2 different blue dress visors bands one is clearly a transportation corp branch and one is drak brick brown color piped Yellow and i would like to know if it's only a variant of transportation colors shade or specialist's reserve.

I'm asking that becouse i've found 2 post ww2 shoulder boards that are light brown piped Yellow and i'm confused which of them is correct or which of them is specialist's reserve and who's not?

Thanks for help

Best regard

Giancarlo

Hello, I read whole topic, but I am not sure and I have question. On photos are three different pipings (yellow, green) of my garrison hats. Are all these pipings of military police (WWII) or not?

I have had these for years. I can figure out 3 of the four but the bottom has me stumped. I am color blind so I may be seeing it wrong but it appears to be a silvery green (if that makes sense). Any ideas what this might be>

Hi guys, im glad i found this topic, I recently bought what was described as an 'Original ww2 infantry garrison cap' on ebay uk. I already have an original one but fancied another, however the colouring is off. When i looked under the flap where the piping joins the wool it is clear as day that it is light blue however the piping showing directly from the hat is more of a goldy greeny blue?

Can anyone help? I will try and post pics!

Scott
