Greetings, I'm looking for any info with regard as to what marking might have been applied to the weapons aboard US Navy ships. I recently purchased a carbine that has LANDING PARTY and PA27 stamped into the stock. The story (no proof, but looking) is that it was issued to the pilot of a LCP off the US George Clymer attack transport APA27. The Clymer served through WW2, Korea and early Viet Nam. I have not been able to find any info regarding small arms markings. Any help/source would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, John

As far as I'm aware there were no such authorized markings to be applied to weapons. I suppose it could have been done on a very small scale among a specific group/ship. I've never seen or heard of any carbine (or other weapon) marked similarly.

Hi Carbine Kid, Take a look at Gunbroker 247421997. The marking appear neatly done as opposed to Bubba putting them on. Open for sugestions. Thanks, John

Well the first thing that I notice is that the rear sight is a fake. The receiver also appears to have been refinished. Its super gray and shows no patina. Those two things make me skeptical. The letters do appear to be of the style I've seen used on other period items. The markings could be original but, I wouldn't pay any premium for it without some rock solid provenance.
