C. Roelens Posted October 7, 2011 Share #1 Posted October 7, 2011 These are outside my area of collecting. Can someone tell me if this patch is original, or post war reproduction? Thank You, Chuck

KurtA Posted October 7, 2011 Share #5 Posted October 7, 2011 Sorry to say it's a repro. (Has those silvery translucent synthetic threads on the reverse).

pac_bob Posted October 9, 2011 Share #7 Posted October 9, 2011 The pointed bomb is a telltale sign of several of the reproductions of this patch you often see. Also, the shield in the original is wider. In some of the repros, the space in the upper angle of the "4" is wider than on the original. Teamski Posted October 9, 2011 Share #8 Posted October 9, 2011 Big time repro. It has synthetic return threads (fish string) -Ski
trenchbuff Posted October 9, 2011 Share #9 Posted October 9, 2011 Would a patch with those threads "glow" under a black light?
Teamski Posted October 9, 2011 Share #10 Posted October 9, 2011 Would a patch with those threads "glow" under a black light? No. Most will not. The portion that glows are WHITE threads and backing material (white twill or gauze backing) on recent repros with exceptions of course. Black lights are limited to that. -Ski
