DiGilio Posted October 1, 2011 Share #1 Posted October 1, 2011 Heres the stuff from the letters I posted in the latest finds section. They were written by a Air Force enlisted man in Vietnam (Da Nang) around 1970 to a girl he knew from back home. The writer was a heavy drug user in Vietnam. He was also sending marijuana home in the mail. Im posting these excerpts because they are a good first-hand account of some of what went on. He talks about drugs and getting high in pretty much every letter. Many were written while he was high. Besides that he talks a lot about music, some poetry and how friends are doing. Its clear from the letters he did some drugs as a civilian but really got into it in Vietnam to escape and cope with being there. Mentions using marijuana, acid, heroin, cocaine, speed, and opium. The letters arent in any order and the majority arent dated. This is from an early letter. This is a from a letter written later on. DiGilio Posted October 1, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted October 1, 2011 This page shows tape marks from where he had taped two joints to the paper. He sometimes sent joints in his letters and also seems like he sent packages of them as well. Poem he wrote about the freedom bird Another poem

Jack's Son Posted October 2, 2011 Share #5 Posted October 2, 2011 Man, what a troubled soul. I wonder how much of this was caused by the war, or how much of this was just a weak personality. ?
