Kadet Posted November 18, 2007 #1 Posted November 18, 2007 Here is a group to PFC Henry L. Dingman who was KIA March 25th 1945 in Vallendar, Germany while serving as a tank crewman w/ the 9th Armored Division. Dingman was a pre war cavalryman who apparently didn't aspire to a high rank! His spurs and horse bit are in the group. I got this group from a "stuff" seller on Ebay w/ no research. This turned into a fascinating group because his IDPF has a lot more detail in it than most. After the war, the Army tried to ascertain exactly what happened to him and got statements from his comrades, to include one from his Company CO who explained it in great detail. The bodies of the men who died in his tank were incinerated and two, Dingman and Svenningsen are buried together in a common grave. Amazingly enough, another collector owns Svenningsen's PH. This group has everything...medal, accolade, document and a load of other paper, telegrams and ephemera...

Jeeper704 Posted November 18, 2007 #7 Posted November 18, 2007 Very interesting grouping. But yet another sad story. He was in 14th Tank Bn? Erwin
Kadet Posted November 19, 2007 Author #8 Posted November 19, 2007 Thanks, and yes he was in the 14th Tank Battalion
Jim Baker Posted November 19, 2007 #11 Posted November 19, 2007 Andy, I love seeing this grouping. I'm still looking for a valor grouping to a tank or TD guy.
JonBoy09 Posted August 21, 2024 #12 Posted August 21, 2024 Great group for sure! I sent you a message. Thanks.
