Longhorn92 Posted September 23, 2011 Share #1 Posted September 23, 2011 Here are a few pics of the field at Brecourt and the manor itself. I was lucky enough to have met the current owner, whose grandfather owned it during the war. He was a friendly guy but understandably wary of visitors because he'd dealt with many trespassers the past eight or nine years. I was with a guide who is a friend of his so my presence wasn't a problem. He told us that he'd recently run off a group of people who were metal detecting in the field at about 3AM. This first pic is of the treeline/gunline, which faced Utah Beach. The guns here would've been oriented to the right.
Longhorn92 Posted September 23, 2011 Author Share #2 Posted September 23, 2011 This is to the rear (generally southwest) of the gunline with the manor in the background.
Longhorn92 Posted September 23, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted September 23, 2011 This pic shows the opposite side--the front--of the treeline/gunline. You can make out Le Grand Chemin in the distance, where the poles are.
