CAMILLUS MARK 2 USN

Picked up my first CAMILLUS MARK 2 USN the other night at a local auction.

It looks to me as it was never sharpened or used, as there are just a few scuffs on the blade from the scabbard.

I had no intentions of buying one so not sure if I overspent.

Ended up costing me $85. Was that a OK price?

Thanks

I think ya did fine.I always figure I overpay on a lot of things...I just justify it by thinking I didnt over pay just spent a bit more than I  wanted to

I know what you mean Doyler, but I always tell people that in most cases, they aren't really overpaying, but paying the going price a year or so early. Of all of the militaria in the world, the only things that I can think of that have dropped in value are East German "VOPO"helmets which once commanded $300 price tags. After the Berlin Wall came down, they showed up in Shotgun News for $15 each.

Even after the huge "Tanker Helmet" finds in France and in India, the values of these pieces have stabilized and gotten back to normal. The Wosk sisters killed the value of "Cape Glouster" tabs for a while, but after they realized that the values had been much higher, and curtailed the release of those tabs, which has allowed those prices to rebound somewhat.

Usually, militaria is a good investment that out performs the stock market.
