Eric Queen Posted September 11, 2011 Share #1 Posted September 11, 2011 A few days ago my dad picked up little bag of insignia from a local estate dealer and this bracelet was among the items. A pretty neat piece as I have not ever seen anything from the "Cavite Marines" before. I would appreciate it if someone could please let me know what it could be worth so I can list it. Thanks. https://www.mca-marines.org/leatherneck/cavite-marines

Dirk Posted September 11, 2011 Share #3 Posted September 11, 2011 This man shows up on the rolls as arriving Jan-Feb 40 and was still there Dec 40...given Asia tours were running two years it is possible he was still there when the war started? If I remember when Cavite was about to fall, the Marines assisted in blowing up the base and retreated to Bataan. So anything to indicate he was a POW....Cavite by the time of WWII was a backwater for Marines....the Navy had long given up on making it or Olongapo a major Naval base....I interviewed a Marine that was there until early 40 and he said the place was wild and anything went...with poor discipline

FriscoHare Posted September 12, 2011 Share #11 Posted September 12, 2011 Super cool find! There's lots of history behind it. Just to add a little more info: Alex Nimmo Jones, K Company, 4th Marines Rank: CHCK (I think it means "Chief Cook")
