CNY Militaria Posted November 13, 2007 Share #1 Posted November 13, 2007 Any idea what unit this is? Some state guard one perhaps?
tredhed2 Posted November 13, 2007 Share #2 Posted November 13, 2007 Perhaps this is for an OPFOR unit (red flag = communism). US label on item?
Jason G Posted November 13, 2007 Share #3 Posted November 13, 2007 I think it's the East German Peoples Militia or Communist party....
QED4 Posted November 13, 2007 Share #4 Posted November 13, 2007 That is an East German Kampfgruppen patch. It was a worker's militia that was organized in factories and was actually under the control of the Communist Party. It was not only to back up the Army in time of war but also to provide the party with military forces in case the army started acting up.

ehrentitle Posted November 13, 2007 Share #7 Posted November 13, 2007 Yup, it's the last issue Kampfgruppen der Arbeiterklasse (Combat Groups of the Working Class) patch. One of my other collecting interests in East German military. And as mentioned above they are quite common as are most KdA medals. Here is a link to the Wikipedia article on KdA (which I've edited it the past): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Combat_Groups...e_Working_Class Kevin
CNY Militaria Posted November 13, 2007 Author Share #8 Posted November 13, 2007 Thanks for the ID, I got this shirt in a large lot of militaria boxes, so I am not out anything. Thanks! Justin
ehrentitle Posted November 13, 2007 Share #9 Posted November 13, 2007 Justin, Kampfgruppen guys were normally older a bit stout so it's probably a large size. Kevin
