Age of US Navy VP 16 squadron patch

Hello, I am trying to narrow down the age of this US Navy Patrol Squadron Sixteen patch and hope someone might be able to help. I believe the patch is Japanese made and in searching the unit's history it deployed to the Western Pacific in 1967 but most of the other deployments were in the Atlantic or Mediterranean. Most versions of this patch I have seen have an additional tap at the top which says EAGLES but this one does not. Thanks in advance.
