Vincennes Posted August 27, 2011 Share #1 Posted August 27, 2011 Here is a fun photo I acquired today at the flea market. The biplane appears to be a 2 seater with gun mounts in the back cockpit, but I do not know enough about WW1 aircraft to identify it. Is the US flag a squadrom insignia? If so, what squadron? Third Herd Posted August 27, 2011 Share #2 Posted August 27, 2011 The flag was used by the 1st Aero Squadron.
Vincennes Posted August 27, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted August 27, 2011 Knowing that the squadron was the 1st. Aero allowed me to search the www and determine that the aircraft is a Salmson A2A and the picture was taken in France during WW1 (thanks, Third Herd).
