During my ship’s reunion activities in Vincennes, Indiana a few weeks ago, we were invited by the staff of the Indiana Military Museum. While people may wonder what manner of collection would be available for us to consider. I can assure you that the collection here is vast and is of the utmost in quality. Many of the artifacts are tied to the local community or the State of Indiana in some way.

We were limited in time to spend here so I didn’t spend as much time capturing the collection on “film” as I wanted. I also got caught up in much viewing the artifacts and reading the placards. Below is a sampling of some of the items.

Al Barsumian's flight jacket:

Morgan Vaux's uniform:

Sammy L. Davis' uniform:

Colonel Frank Gabreski's flight suit:

General Colin Powell's BDU:

Major General "Buff" Blount and General Tommy Franks' DCUs:

Herb Suerth's Uniform:

I don't recall this MCPOs name, but check out the 11 service stripes (remember, these represent 4 years of service, each):

Major General George S. Patton II's Jacket:

Everett Lindley's dress whites (USS Vincennes CA-44 crewmember):

I realized that I focused a lot on the uniforms, but they have a vast collection that includes tanks, aircraft and other vehicles as well as weapons (small arms and artillery pieces) from many of our nation's conflicts.

Nice collection from what you have shown. Thanks for sharing!

By the way, they have a very ambitious expansion plan...you can enlarge this...looks first class!

Yeah, they are moving into a portion of that new facility in the next 12 months as the continue to gain funding for the larger construction projects. This new location is situated right near all of the historic area (near the battlefield/Fort Sackville).
