American Legion Hats? Any info on these?

I picked these up today @ a local Antique Store. One has a nice bullion PAST Commander patch. The other was labeled WWI Legion Hat with a medal attached. Any truth on the WWI. Also, the bullion is a cool factor just curious who else has one like it.

That veterans cap is VERY cool, especially with the bullion patch.

 

The other cap is WWI French made out of the typical sky blue color.

After doing some research I am wrong in saying that cap is French. It is actually a US made cap, modeled after a French cap. These were apparently worn by members of the 40 and 8...which explains the medal.
