I visited in 2009 and was impressed with the way the museum exhibits the many artefacts from WW2. From small personal belongings via patches, helmets, weapons to small vehicles, films, photo's and document, scale diorama's and larger groups - and rooms were you can experience some of the horrors that happened at the Baugnez crossroads via film and audio. There's an audiotour through the museum and there is a nice museum shop with collectibles, books and souvenirs. As far as I am concerned a 'must-do' when you are visiting the Ardennes-area. And being dutch, I am not prejudiced ;-) Malmedy is a great nearby place to visit, too. Here are some photo's. If you have further questions about this museum you can always PM.

Some of the best WWII museums are in the area of the Battle of the Bulge. I am consistently amazed at what turns up around there. Thanks for sharing!

Better than Diekirch?

Erwin

If you look at the quality of displaying the items... YES!

Don't get me wrong, I do think Diekirch is a beautiful museum, but the displays there can't beat the more modern way of displaying items like in Baugnez.

If you haven't been there Erwin, just take the time to visit Baugnez (and the historical surroundings): I'm pretty sure you'll like it!

Lots of german stuff. But that might be interesting to you guys, too... I think they really have done their best in making some nice lifesize diorama's with lots of stuff to be seen...

  • 6 months later...

First, I'll echo the accolades for this place, definitely a must-see. I thought I'd add a few of my own pics to the thread, I hope you don't mind. Just an FYI, I'm into helmets and was a medic so that may be reflected in my choice of subjects...
