can someone ID and vet this patch please? my refs don't show it. I'm thinking fighter-bomber... ? looks like hand-painted to me, but maybe a glue-on? the leather's pretty thin and not stiff if that helps. it's 4 3/4 " and, is this type scarce?

many thanks/

Looks like possibly a Navy VT squadron. Looks like a torpedo and the image of a TBM/TBF "Avenger" My 2-cents. Bobgee

I have this identified as Torpedo Squadron SIXTEEN (VT-16). They were attached to the U.S.S. LEXINGTON, CV-16, during WWII. Gregg

The patch could be "Silkscreened" or a "Decal" on leather, they were also done this way, to tell if silkscreened take a magnifying glass and see if the design has a "pixel" look to it , if so most likely done that way , if not probably decal on leather.
