hard to see from this image, but it appears as if the bandsman emblem may be in the center of his chevron...definately not crossed rifles

Tim: The rickshaw shot was taken in Tientsin in the 1920's...also looking at the pointed field scarf.....the castle like building in the background is Gordon Hall. Love the bar shot....is the picture marked on the back with a number?
