Never seen a Medal of Honor plate, but one of my neighbors has Navy Cross plates. First time I ever saw them, it certainly took a second to register what I was seeing. Other than his plates, I've never seen anything other than Purple Heart plates.

A few years ago I saw one that read P40 AVG. I followed him and he was not a vet but his wifes grandfather was General Chenault of the Flying tigers. We lived in the same town and he invited me over. I got to hold the Generals chinese made beer mug. They kept rubber bands in it. Not quite the same as a MOH plate but I thought it was cool.

I was on our state honor guard years ago. We did a funeral, and there was a car with MOH plates at the cemetery. It was Navy Captain George Street (WW2, Submarines). Introduced myself and got to shake his hand. A few years later, he was invited to go on an ESGR (Employer Support of Guard/Reserve) trip with my unit to Arizona. I went along on the trip, took my MOH book with me and asked him if he would autograph it- he wrote a nice, personal note in it. He was a very humble, nice man. Became a high school teacher after he got out of the Navy.

Alaska currently has license plates for most medal winners, and also for many military units which have some connection to the state.
