korea drab Posted October 28, 2007 Share #1 Posted October 28, 2007 As promised i took a few pictures of the hood i purchased on ebay for a friend. He owns a regular hood and as i found this item decided to make him a gift.As stated here on other post they sell cheap,i payd 10 dollars. The stitching looks original made in time of fabrication, same color. Not done later. The buttons are sewn through the lined material. Have other members more pictures to compare? LOLUSMC Posted October 29, 2007 Share #2 Posted October 29, 2007 I have the same type of hood with an original linning, but it's a M1951. Lolusmc
Greg Robinson Posted October 29, 2007 Share #3 Posted October 29, 2007 Only theory that makes sense is these were made during the Korean War in response to an urgent need for cold weather clothing. It's possible they added the wool lining to existing M1943 hoods just as they added liner buttons to existing M43 jackets. Greg
