post-5349-1321667563.jpgpost-5349-1321667576.jpgThanks for the kind words and info Jack. Is there any way to find out about this plane from the tail markings. It is another ebay pickup. I like the peacefull setting and the mighty warbird contrast. Too bad about the water damage, but it is in good hands now.

Steve,

That's a 490th BG a/c 43-37861 assigned to the 490th BG Eye 2 July,1944 returned to the US Bradley Field 13 July,1945 RFC Kingman, Dec,1945

The tail markings were RED painted top with WHITE below it, used signs low ( + sign in your photo) and repainted serial number above it

post-5349-1322359652.jpg This one is a heart breaker. I got it on ebay when the seller broke up a group. This was the only picture I got. There were personal items and some great pictures. Now all scattered. I want to say again thank you to the members who have taken their time to research these pictures. I hope other members post their B-17 pictures as Jon did. I can never get enough.

post-5349-1322360455.jpg This is a picture of FAST WORKER I have 8 photos of this plane and her crew. All the pictures have captions typed on the back. This picture was taken as the crew was waiting for the go ahead order and were killing time. Some of the crew pictures are kind of neat also, showing the flight gear, some of it RAF. With all of that I have no idea what BG they are with.

post-5349-1322361151.jpg This is a croped section of a photo. The name of the B-17 is Cheif Sly's Son I think it is a 91st BG plane and was lost during the war. Notice that the bomb bay doors are still open. Also the smoking P-38 with what look like invasion stripes painted on the side.

post-5349-1322361918.jpgI hate the fact that so many of these photos are just fading away or turning dark with age. I scan every picture I get to try and save what I can.

Awesome shots Steve, especially the one with the P-38!

Out of curiosity, does anyone have, or has anyone seen a photo of a B-17 named "Slap Happy"? It was converted to a VIP transport and served in the British Isles during the war. Trying to find a pic of it or any other Air Transport Group airplanes.

Thanks!

Jon
