MWalsh Posted July 9, 2011 Share #1 Posted July 9, 2011 The Minnesota Military Museum is at Camp Ripley near Little Falls, Minnesota, in the central part of the state. I visited it in late May this year. The museum is excellent! They have great indoor displays, the outside ones are great too! Here are the aircraft on display outside. In the warm months the kiddies can get pictures in the Cobra cockpit. Enjoy! MW

MWalsh Posted July 9, 2011 Author Share #20 Posted July 9, 2011 The L-19 Bird Dog. In the 1950's I think it was, one of these Minnesota National Guard light observation aircraft went down in a small lake in the western part of the state. The pilot's remains were located outside of the aircraft, but the aircraft itself was never found. A couple years ago some fisherman found the aircraft. It was raised and the last I heard I thought it was going to this museum. I am not sure if they ended up with it or what, but supposedly it was in excellent condition as the weather is right here, and the water was fresh water.
