Pistol Lanyard - unknown

Recommended Posts

This was in a GI footlocker - leather lanyard 39 inches long with a metal clip. Is this for a pistol?

Could be, sure, I've seen similar on pistols and holsters.

The paint stripping of M1 helmets, particularly protestor helmets, is destruction of history by the very men who claim to protect it.

It would be a bit bulky for a pistol lanyard

This is the type we were supposed to use:

Hi Guy's

That is the type I was given by a ND NG 15 or so years ago.

Cheers Gerry

Thirty-nine inches seems a little long for a pistol lanyard, even if it's non issue.

It could still be a pistol lanyard. The wearer would have to wrap some of that length round his belt and tie it off. I have a WW2 USMC officers holster that has exacty that type of braiding on the leg tie.
