Just bought a pair of Air Corps Unauthorized PFC for my collection, nice price too.

Found two more sellers, hope it's none of you, trying to make a buck.

Another great deal,

that 74 dollar one IS NOT a good deal. i got a 1930s pattern pair for 15 bucks and a mixed pair (one 1920s and one 1940s ) for another 15 bucks, within the past 3 weeks

Sounds like you've been doing some good hunting. I was being most sarcastic about the $74 PFC chevron, but you never know, he might find somebody who'll buy it.

I've got the whole Unauthorized group so far Grade 6 to Grade 1, almost all without specialty devices, except for Air Corps and one Tank Corps. Now just to get them all in khaki......... :drool2:

There were also AAF glider pilots who wore specialist chevrons. Below there is very interesting image of June 28th, 1942 taken in Washington. The original description of this photo is the following:

Marlene Dietrich and Sgt William T. Sampson II, cockpit of a glider. Sampson was presented the first pair of glider pilot wings ever to be awarded to U.S. Army glider pilot.

When it comes to the myths, the AAF specialist chevrons with propeller emblem are similar to black neckties. Both elements were worn not to mid 1942, as it is written usually, but well into the war or even later on.

Here is an evidence that the AAF winged chevrons were still in use AFTER WWII. I hope it is a very good photo for reenactors and fans of history dedicated to the US WWII era uniforms.

What can be seen below is the 553rd BS, 386th BG, St. Trond, Belgium, June 12th, 1945.

Here is one more proof that AAF's winged chevrons were in use well after WWII.

Maj. Gen. Willis H. Hale decorates servicemen of the 7th AF in September 1945.
