12th, She was scrapped between 1959-1960 at Kearny, NJ. What a waste. And an absolute disgrace that the navy couldn't find room in their budget to maintain this ship in storage until it could be turned into a museum ship. At least I have my Enterprise souvenir.

Q What are the two stupidest things the US Navy has ever done??

 

A. Nuke the Saratoga and cut up the Enterprise.

Owen, I'd have to agree with you. Not building the the Super Tomcat would have to be added to the list also. An Air wing full of F-18's makes absolutely no sense. The Navy should have kept CV-3 and CV-6 in a state of permanent commission with minimal crew just like the USS Constitution in Boston. Unfortunately they are sometimes very short sighted.
