usaf70 Posted June 30, 2011 #1 Posted June 30, 2011 Can anyone ID this patch as to unit and whether it is USAF or USN? Thanks, Tom
2Dogs Posted June 30, 2011 #2 Posted June 30, 2011 Looks like a short timers patch. Can't say if it's Navy or USAF but I like it. "Smoke pot" I think refers to smoking Mary Jane. I looked at the patch again, Could be for the U.S. Forest Service Smoke Jumpers? It looks like an upside down arroehead.
Robswashashore Posted June 30, 2011 #3 Posted June 30, 2011 "Smoke pot" I think refers to smoking Mary Jane. Mr. 2Dogs, surely you are not familiar with the colloquialism for Cannibis, the smoking of which was and is, as you must be aware, a misdemeanor in this country! Sir--I, for one, am SHOCKED!
craig_pickrall Posted June 30, 2011 #4 Posted June 30, 2011 He probably learned about that the same way I did, on the History Channel and Discovery Channel.
2Dogs Posted July 1, 2011 #5 Posted July 1, 2011 That's it the History Channel, I blame it all on T.V. But then again we did'nt have T.V. when I was a teenager
Jeffro Posted July 2, 2011 #6 Posted July 2, 2011 Though I'm not that familiar with VN operations, does anyone think this may be something a FAC might have worn? Of course the above suggestions are quite possible as well, but when I look at the patch I'm reminded of a pilot with bloodshot eyes from searching below perhaps and laying down smoke for some fast movers to come in and drop Napalm on the target. It may just be a play on words either way. Jeffro
