gimp Posted March 4, 2013 #178 Posted March 4, 2013 Hello Kammo-Man and Vintage Productions, I know this is an old post, but will this tiger stripe material ever be manufactured into blouses and trousers? Or, if it was manufactured into clothing, can you tell me where I can purchase it? I am a huge fan of Captain Willard's tiger stripe from Apocalypse Now and your mix of two patterns is the closest I've seen to Willard's tiger stripe pattern. I've posted two photos below comparing the "mix of 2 patterns" reproduction tiger stripe (your original photo enlarged and rotated 180 degrees) and a screen shot of Willard's tiger stripe. Any information you can provide on your reproduction pattern would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Dan Hi Dan, this set sold out months ago. Hope this links help: http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/upgradetest/index.php?/topic/67341-sm-wholesale-tiger-stripe/ http://www.ebay.com/itm/GOLDEN-TIGER-CAMOUFLAGE-SET-VIETNAM-ERA-ELITE-FORCES-/120457639578?hash=item1c0bd5b69a&nma=true&si=A3j1gp7fTbJOb2netNDQlj5tKIo%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Wank Yank Posted March 4, 2013 #181 Posted March 4, 2013 alternative is NCHS as classic/JWD tiger pattern with right cut (but i think its ripstop fabric) http://www.ebay.com/...=item58953bf1f8 The ones I have shown above from NCHS are poplin and pretty thick material.
Wank Yank Posted March 4, 2013 #182 Posted March 4, 2013 airziom, You are correct, the pattern is VNMC, I have seen pictures from 1971-72 of what was labeled "US Special Forces" wearing it too. They were in a boat on a little waterway, so the reporter that printed the picture might have been wrong. I am going to get me a EA set for my 173rd impression, but I will keep these as a backup set for events. I bought two sets, one is still mint. This is a picture taken last week at The Battle of Aiken http://www.battleofaiken.org/ where we did a living history display. I am the tall fella in the back in the ts. I had a WWII belt, brown .45 with a 1911A1 and an M-14 as a USMC adviser to the VNMC.

gimp Posted April 23, 2013 #192 Posted April 23, 2013 A company called C.A.B They made the 2 different shades fades , green shade and gold shade. 7 pocket pants, 3 pocket shirts Seal rifleman jackets short sleeve 2nd pattern jungle jackets shorts sleeves Flight suits Boonies B20 this flightsuit is not C.A.B, their pattern have more rounded edge tigerstripes, but yes, two color ways as mint. Produced since 2000s....!? What you see is the "Houston Inc." brand (brighter color, like this photo), similar to the "Tokyo Phantom" (more brown color and darker), both brands have the same pattern errors, sharper edge tigerstripes and produced in the 90s. Regards
bravo_2_zero Posted May 14, 2013 #193 Posted May 14, 2013 New east Asia supply co MK5 gold ( green tint ) tigers. Vs shots now, mkv - mkiii Now I downgraded a size to medium as the large hung from me, the medium is a little snug so make what you will of that. The pants are longer in the legs and tighter in the thigh so could be more authentic cut ? Anyways enjoy.
swed Posted May 14, 2013 #194 Posted May 14, 2013 Just got mine EA MKV tigers and i love the fact that the black stripes is a bit blueish, it will be interesting to see how they will fade.
bravo_2_zero Posted May 14, 2013 #195 Posted May 14, 2013 Just got mine EA MKV tigers and i love the fact that the black stripes is a bit blueish, it will be interesting to see how they will fade. It's also a different weight of cloth, more fine less corse like the other set. The cloth is also very fluffy to the touch inside too. The tigers are also not stonewashed like the other set. That kind of annoyed me a little well a lot when they turned up stonewashed. I wanted them to fade and wear natural to me rather than an industrial washer.
bravo_2_zero Posted May 21, 2013 #196 Posted May 21, 2013 Hi Patches are my invention jump wings in zoom regards Piotr On EA gold mk5
airziom Posted May 21, 2013 #197 Posted May 21, 2013 B20 Yes - new EA are great for me better fabric and cut - I have RM set regards Piotr
bravo_2_zero Posted May 22, 2013 #198 Posted May 22, 2013 B20 Yes - new EA are great for me better fabric and cut - I have RM set regards Piotr Yes I have to agree I don't like the mk3 suit now I have the mk5. The mk5 is better cut , better fabric and stronger black stripes. The mk3 just seems poor at the side of the mk5. The mk3 will now become my play about suit to get washed and worn daily.
