Nack Posted October 24, 2007 Share #2 Posted October 24, 2007 I just got 2 jackets today the first has a felt patch on the right arm ,Both have mothing to them should I strip them or keep them as they are ? I'd mothball the heck out of them, and then put them in the collection. The insignia isn't worth all that much on its own, so why not keep it together? SteveR Posted October 24, 2007 Share #3 Posted October 24, 2007 Definitly do not tear the 20th up it is fine like it is. When I first got into collecting I didn't want anything with moth damage. But now I have no problem with it. Hell you can't find any Civil War stuff without it. As was suggested just bag them with mothballs that will kill any bugs that may still be there. In 10 years you will be glad you did. Steve
the.warlord1944 Posted October 27, 2007 Share #4 Posted October 27, 2007 I know it sounds funny maybe but i rather like a us uniform with a little mothdamage more than a never used/issued uniform. I like the battle worn/mothed look. then you know it is actually used stuff. It has more charakter in my opinion. I have a german ww2 paradeuniform with mothdamage.....i coudn`t pass it up because of the moth holes. Same with the us uniforms.
