ww2imp Posted June 26, 2011 Share #6 Posted June 26, 2011 ok, but in wwII impresion sell the campaign hat in forst green, so what is the real colour? and where is possible buy the patch of indian head repro. My next run of campaign hats will be in more of the WWI style tan shading. Our WWI forest green uniforms are still in the works. They've been pretty difficult to match the melton fabric but we are still working on it.

Cavdoc83 Posted June 28, 2011 Share #8 Posted June 28, 2011 --It has always been my understanding that the first divisional patches were made at the unit level with locally procured materials; so why not make your own patch? I confess that I know very little about the USMC in the Great War. When did Marines start wearing divisional patches? Did they have them as early as Belleau Wood and Chateau-Thierry? The Army didn't really wear them in any numbers until the very end of the war and during the occupation. --Someone on another forum passed along this link for M1917 helmets: http://www.us1917helmet.com/ Has anyone dealt with this chap? --Brian P. Regarding wear of shoulder patches, see 2ID GO 29, 14 NOV 18 for a copy of the 2ID General Order directing the wear of shoulder patches. Note that it's dated 14 NOV 18, immediately after the Armistice, and before the march into Germany. I think you have two options to obtain a patch: - make one, as Brian suggests - buy one of the repros which are all over ePay Though I don't have one myself, I've heard only GREAT things about Schipperfabrik's products (WW1 USMC) . I have no suggestions about a weapon. Steve

gpw_42 Posted June 29, 2011 Share #11 Posted June 29, 2011 Hmm, perhaps I SHOULD have said "used to be all over eBay." Sadly, they were often advertised as genuine WW1-era patches; clearly, I haven't looked in some time. I apologize for giving an inaccurate suggestion. Bonne chance, and keep an eye on eBay - there may be some benefit to being patient on this one. Steve

Fran, Check eBay. You can find several at any given day. Occasionally you'll fine an original (for big $$$). Some are clearly repro. Sadly, some are listed as original even though they are repro. I just checked....there are 4-2nd Div patches in the WW-I section of eBay right now and one 5th Marine bde patch (see links below). One might even be a genuine original. http://cgi.ebay.com/2nd-Division-12-FA-Ove...=item53e81a19f5 http://cgi.ebay.com/WW-1-2nd-Division-Head...=item3cb9eb6788 http://cgi.ebay.com/WW-1-2nd-Div-Headquart...=item3cb9eb6b61 http://cgi.ebay.com/WW-1-2nd-Division-Head...=item3cb9eb6f73 http://cgi.ebay.com/WW-1-US-Marine-Corps-5...=item3cb9fbfed5
