Picked this up recently in a lot. Some sort of US ball grenade. I'm REALLY not up on these, so if someone could give me the age of it and what kind is it, i'd appreciate it.

And yes, it is of course completely inert before anyone asks!

That is what was referred to as the Lemon grenade due to the shape similarity to a lemon...

Nomenclature is M26 Grenade...

From the looks of the casting this might be a replica. Can you show the bottom? There were similar replicas cast in three different styles. To confuse things some of the EOD teams bought them for schools and demonstrations.

Uberman,

The Fuze is a US M228 Practice Manufactured by Martin Electronics in 1989. The body is a cast commercial current manufactured reproduction / not US Military Issue. Current selling price on these is under $10.00.

As originally issued, The US M228 Fuze is only used with The US M69 Practice Grenade Body (Photo Attached).

Stay safe,

Frank

Thank you gentlemen.

yeah, after looking at it closely, the casting is just SO crappy it looks like it was done in a garage workshop. I will post the bottom tomorrow. Nothing to write home about lol.
