If we go by this illustration, it just might be that the White Pile Cap was prescribed for wear over the Brown Drab one with the winter aggressor uniform in the 50s-60s (Illustration from member Bernhard, as posted in Aggressor Helmet Topic he started back in 2010).

A superb example of the type, this with a 1st Cav Div Patch type Crest. (Photos posted by member Military_Curator).

Just to add on it: the white lining is sewn together so it doesn’t fall over the ears or allow for the visor to bend. I had no idea it was such a rarity; I was able to find this one on eBay. Amazing thread, I’m really enjoying learning about these caps!

This sewing together the edges of the flaps appear to be a somewhat common thing, done no doubt for garrison wear only, in below topic are South Korean worn examples, but it could conceivably of been done in other places Army Wide back then.
