Discharge in the USN during ww2

Hello to all

 

how was the discharge process for the end of service for sailors during ww2 ?

 

- Do they are assigned on ship till the end of the war regardless of since how many time did they are already in the USN

 

- Or, is it as in the Army where you save "points" depending on your service records to make a total amount allowing you to be taken home and discharged ?

Sailors did collect points which were figuered just like the Army for discharge.
