gatormeat Posted June 8, 2011 Share #1 Posted June 8, 2011 marine corps cuff striker? at first assumed it was an USMC version of NAVAL ARMED GUARD. large red thread embr'ed crossed INF rifles on forest green wool. reverse side has backing white muslim cloth. vintage is probably pre WW2? crossed rifles appear too large for CHEVRON distinguished specialty mark. any ideas? CUBUSMC Posted June 9, 2011 Share #3 Posted June 9, 2011 Currently I am not near any reference materials, but I will check when I get home, but I believe it is the rank of PFC that was introduced shortly after WW1. I think 1922. It is not a distinguishing mark. You see these relatively commonly in all three color variations, (red on green, green on khaki and gold on blue). I do not believe that it lasted more than a couple years. It was definitely no longer around in the 30's. - Jeff
normaninvasion Posted June 9, 2011 Share #4 Posted June 9, 2011 Jeff is right, USMC PFC, but I believe these were worn as early as 1918.
