BOLO Posted June 1, 2011 Share #26 Posted June 1, 2011 looks good, you could probably use a tooth pick to try and scrape off the traces of red paint maybe you could add a hemet net , I have seen photos of the M1917A1 with a net , then the traces of red wont be as noticable
O.G-Palmer Posted June 1, 2011 Share #27 Posted June 1, 2011 Looks like a dam nice helmet, for some reason i am starting to think it may of been used for a forestry (logging) company would explain the red paint but doesn't fit with how nice the liner and straps are. Good find well done  ollie

RustyCanteen Posted June 2, 2011 Share #29 Posted June 2, 2011 Good save on the helmet! When you had the liner out did you see any markings on the leather? The liners were sometimes ink stamped with the date.

Steindaddie Posted June 2, 2011 Author Share #31 Posted June 2, 2011 You brought back this old warbird to life again! Thank you for the good word! Sure was nice to see the original paint under there. (But my wife says it looked better red!! ) RustyCanteen Posted Today, 06:18 PM Good save on the helmet! When you had the liner out did you see any markings on the leather? Thanks! But alas, there were no dates. Just an army ordnance stamp on the liner lobe and pad.
