I have some old USMC Dress Blues Gold buttons that have the 13 stars that go all the way around the eagle / anchor, I have not seen these before can any give me an idea? Thanks. Marc

There is a button (and b&w picture) in Tice's work (Tice MC206 & Albert's MC 5C). It was used in the 1830's, Maker is unknown, it has 16 (6 point) stars that surround the field entirely and measures 21mm.

I've not seen a 13 star variety, were the stars entirely surround the field.

Sorry, I can't. There are others here that may be able to help you. I can tell you that if the eagle faces right (your left) its a post 1941 button.

Most of the dress buttons have the cotter pin type connection. Makes the uniform easier to clean/press and keeps the buttons from losing their gold tone.

Sorry not much help I know..

Navy buttons, Jon already ID'd the pre-1941 one.

The silver looking button (top photo, far left) is from a 1970's EM's dress uniform.

I forgot, I have this one to show. As described above, and it is flat - one piece.
