I noticed something about these chalices that I was wondering if anyone else was curious about. The chalices were made in Austria out of 900 silver post war using WW2 British made US paratrooper wings. I wonder why they ended up using a WW2 era British made US paratrooper wing in Austria. To my knowledge these British made wings were not made of silver and the few that have surfaced marked silver are suspect as these wings are heavily reproduced. The only thing I can think of is that the manufacture was originally provided with a British made US paratrooper wing by a member of the 506th PIR who originally ordered these chalices. The Austrian company that made these chalices then simply copied what was provided in precious metals.

Very very nice Ed. Thanks for sharing!

"God almighty, in a few short hours we will be in battle with the enemy. We do not join battle afraid. We do not ask favors or indulgence but ask that, if You will, use us as Your instrument for the right and an aid in returning peace to the world. We do not know or seek what our fate will be. We ask only this, that if die we must, that we die as men would die, without complaining, without pleading and safe in the feeling that we have done our best for what we believed was right. Oh Lord, protect our loved ones and be near us in the fire ahead and with us now as we pray to you."

All were silent for two minutes as the men were left, each with his individual thoughts. Then the colonel ordered, "Move out."

Does anyone here on the forum own one of the other chalice types, circled here?

Interested in the story on that chalice. That's Göring's coat of arms.

I briefly had a silver egg holder that was gifted to his secretary and a book cover, using the same shields. They were sold to a well known dealer.
