Teutonen Posted May 13, 2011 Share #1 Posted May 13, 2011 Hope someone can help me. I have a WW2 Pilot's wing set. One of the pins on te back broke off at the base where it is affixed to the wing irself. I tried super glue, but that doesn't seem to hold it. It initially held, but when I put on the "cap", it came back off (at the base.) Thank you in advance. Jeff

But, if you want to fix it, the best and maybe the only way is to take it to a jeweler and have them soulder the pin back on. They'll use silver soulder and it should look as good as new. Plus it shouldn't cost that much to fix.
pconrad02 Posted May 13, 2011 Share #3 Posted May 13, 2011 But find a GOOD jeweler!
B-17Guy Posted May 13, 2011 Share #4 Posted May 13, 2011 If you get it repaired, one word of caution- Some wings have a coat of clear lacquer placed on them by the manufacture, as the last step in production. When the jeweler heats the area to silver solder on the back, it can "tan" the lacquer on the front of the wing, which is disappointing at best.
