NorwichCadet Posted April 20, 2011 Share #1 Posted April 20, 2011 Here is a very nice holster marked on the flap "ROCK ISLAND Arsenal 1903 ??K" and at the flap tip "HD". Inside it is unit marked (see picture) "BY 1 N.Y. 30". What do these unit marks represent? It came with a nice M1901 revolver.THANKS,
RustyCanteen Posted April 20, 2011 Share #2 Posted April 20, 2011 It probably stands for Battery 1, New York Regiment. #30 is probably an inventory number or the soldiers individual number in the company/regiment. With a little research into NY units of the 1900-1907 period you could probably identify the exact unit. The "??K" is most likely "H.E.K." the inspector's initials.
