Daughter's Farewell Poem to Her Dad

Here is a poem by my daughter.

Army Farewell

Dad is going off to war

I plead, what for?

He assures me it's going to be alright

One day there's not going to be a fight

Dad has to leave

And no one can even perceive

How much we want to hold on to this moment

As if we own it

Mom kisses Dad for one last time

Oh, war is such a crime

Dad holds us tight

While were standing in the light

Even when the world's darkness surrounds us…

Now Dad leaves on the bus

Dad I promise

We will keep the light

And not back down at the sight of the fight

Dad, our hearts will always be with you

We love you

Thanks for the comments.

I am blessed by her.

In her young life she has seen three deployments, the longest 16 months.

Not to mention the usual train up before the deployments.

She is my little warrior. I even taught her Combative Level 1. ;)

Just make sure you come back home to her and your family safe and sound.

This is great to hear.

"Family" in America is still special, and it is evolving.

BUT, it is still......."Family in America"! ;)
